Dear Fire Island Friends and Neighbors,
For those of you who don't know me personally, I live year round in Lonelyville with my family, and volunteered in 2009 & 2010 at the Fire Island News as a reporter for the Fair Harbor/Dunewood/Lonelyville column.
I started the FI5050 in the hope folks would like to read more of the news and stories I come across here on our beautiful beach; and that they'd like to participate in fun food and family focused events as a part of a membership to benefit a worthy local charity.
Fifty percent (50%) of every fifty dollar ($50) membership and event fee will be donated, in the form of food purchases, to The Hospitality Center's Soup Kitchen at St. Patrick's Church in Bay Shore. Again, all monies contributed by The Fire Island Fifty Fifty will be made in the form of food provisions to provide meals for a growing population of poor and malnourished children and adults. (See our Progress!).
I promise to produce great events and to deliver an interesting, uniquely captured account of life on Fire Island.
Please tell all your friends and family!
With best wishes and thanks for your consideration,
Tara Moira McBride
